About African Girl Initiative Uganda

Bwaise is a slum area and one of the biggest in Uganda's capital Kampala. It is one of the poorest areas in Kampala, with high rates of HIV and AIDS, very poor sanitation, large number of commercial sex workers, the largest number eats one meal a day. Many girls living in these slums are exposed to a lot of violence and many dropout of school. It's against this background that African Girl Initiative Uganda is carrying out a project that will avail girls in Bwaise skills and also enhance their knowledge on reproductive health and their rights. African Girl Initiative Uganda is affiliated to Man Up, a global youth campaign to stop violence against women. . View all posts by African Girl Initiative Uganda

I know that many Organisations have been working to improve the living condition of slam dwellers but the issues of children have never been so pronounced as highlighted by your blog.

AGI, you have come at the right time to raise this flag. Prudence, is right about the plight of the children who are supposed to live a better life yet know one cares about their rights to basic shelter, food, water, health care and education.

I kindly request you to invite the MPs, Prime Minister, the Speaker of parliament and the new Mayor to this area. Lets hear what they have to say.

Thanks Joe for the observation. Our guest speaker is the former contestant for Member of Parliament Kawempe South Division in which our Bwaise project is based. Wish you will be around.
